ISTEAM activities offer the opportunity to have fun and productive learning in subjects such as digital technology, art and maths. Some ISTEAM activities even allow learners to gain an insight into what it is like to do a real job in the outside world!
Year 4 students were recently given the challenge of making tangram pictures into fashionable logos for shirts. In one photograph, 3 of the students featured are wearing the designer fashion logo: “Ruby” on their shirts. The boys are wearing the designer fashion logo: “I Am Ugly” (named after the real designer brand: “I Love Ugly”).
This tangram/logo activity came from the Figure It Out “Creative Technology” books. Maths, art, technology, business thinking and fun! The two students whose logos are featured achieved the key competencies of: managing self, thinking, participating and contributing and relating to others. They also had to use an impressive range of digital technology skills to get to the final product stage.
