Sea Week in the middle school has been an exciting, splashy adventure that brought the wonders of the ocean to life for the learners! This week has been filled with fun activities, hands-on learning, and plenty of excitement as we explored marine life, conservation, and the importance of our seas.

Each day, we took a deep dive into different aspects of learning where we focused on ocean-themed art, such as painting watercolors of underwater scenes. The learners also wrote information reports about certain sea animals that are endemic to New Zealand, as well as persuasive letters on how to protect our seas.

The highlight of the week was when we learned through The Young Ocean Explorers how pollution and climate change are affecting sea creatures and we discussed simple ways that can help, like reducing plastic use and keeping our beaches clean.

Overall, Sea Week has been a fantastic blend of fun and learning, where learners not only explored the wonders of the ocean but also gained a deeper understanding of the importance of protecting our seas and sea life. Through engaging activities, they discovered new things about marine life, developed their creativity, and reflected on how their actions can make a positive impact on the environment.
