Blowing, plucking, shaking, striking…That’s how we play musical instruments and produce sounds!
The children in Year 2 are fascinated to discover all the things related to sound. We are learning about vibrations, about high and low pitch about soft and loud sounds, about sound travelling in waves, and most importantly we get to experiment and play.
If you happen to be around the Science Room and you hear a cacophony of sounds you will know that the Year 2 students are learning… Bongos, ukuleles, triangles, maracas, castanets, xylophones and bells, recorders or just bottles and glasses filled with water, what an amazing orchestra and what a fun way to learn!
There is hope that a great composer, physicist, or sound engineer has just turned six or seven and is learning at Owairoa Primary School.
