The absence of a Covid lockdown has meant that this year students in the senior school have enjoyed listening to their classmates deliver their oral language presentations – their speeches.
Across the top floor students could be heard speaking out their ideas and opinions, offering creative interpretations on the theme Discover. While some students enjoyed listening more than speaking, many challenged themselves and improved in self-confidence.
The school finals were streamed live through to classrooms so that all could support their friends and classmates.
Our finalists presented speeches with some interesting topics: the discovery of school, the world’s worst invention, social media, fossils, iPhones, Mathematics, discoveries made in reading, discoveries made by accident, the deep sea and even findings about the month of June. We even discovered that there are many parts of a Christmas tree that can be eaten!
Well done to those who presented speeches but didn’t make the finals.
Best of luck to those who will be representing Owairoa at the APPA Rehu Tai Finals.
