The students in the Senior School have been busy laying down the roots of their Science learning this year by experimenting with the germination process of parsley seeds.
Together, the learners discussed what they thought had to be done in order to create a fair test and explored the notion of variables and what they meant to a scientific experiment. With the decision made that liquid would be the chosen variable, it was time to bury the seeds in four cups of soil and add tap water, salt water, sugar water and diet cola to the mix.
Predictions were discussed, debated and declared in their exercise books and then all that was left to do was wait.
Well, the results were unbe‘leaf’able! The diet cola induced soil demonstrated the best germination process and we haven’t any any idea how this happened!
