Towards the end of Term 1, students in our 10 Senior School classes spent a challenging day at Extreme Rock Climbing in Panmure. The anticipation of what they were about to encounter could be felt on the short bus journey there.
Upon arrival, those who had not been to the extensive climbing facility previously stared up at the seemingly skyscraper-high walls, wondering what they had signed up for! But, once all were fitted with safety harnesses and instructions on how to tackle the self-belaying system, all students were quick to head to one of the walls to get started.
There was an extensive range to choose from, all with varying degrees of difficulty. The brightly coloured and themed walls appealed to the students, who, as the day progressed, became increasingly brave and more confident about their abilities to tackle even the most challenging of walls. Towards the end of the afternoon, students scaled walls at impressive speeds.
It is highly likely that parents will receive requests from their children to return to Extreme Rock Climbing during the upcoming holidays.
