The Middle school students have been learning about measurement in Maths this term.
Year 3 took part in the Outdoor Classroom Day a few weeks ago. Outdoor Classroom Day is part of a global movement to make time outdoors part of every child’s day.
At the end of May schools across New Zealand took their learning outdoors. In Year 3 our students enjoyed learning about measurement through their school environment. They took part in a scavenger hunt on the school grounds. They looked around for branches, tree trunks, leaves and bugs to measure with their rulers. They learned how to use a ruler accurately to find the length and width of objects.
Our learners were engaged and thoroughly enjoyed searching the grounds for different things to measure.
