At Owairoa ISTEAM activities offer the opportunity to have fun learning in subjects such as technology, art, maths and inquiry.
G3 students last week were given the challenge of not only making a tangram picture with the usual seven tangram shapes, but also making them into useful and saleable objects. In the image below, two of the students featured have made pen holders from 2 tangram horses and one has made a horse bookmark.
The activity came from the Figure It Out “Creative Technology” books. Maths, art, technology, business thinking and fun! It also utilised the key competencies of: managing self, thinking, participating and contributing and relating to others.
