ISTEAM

In the Senior School during our Maths lessons, we’ve been focusing on understanding money, its value and how to handle change. To make this more engaging, we created a mini market where the students could not only practise using money and calculating change, but also showcase their talents. This aligns with our curriculum’s emphasis on iSTEAM and financial literacy.

During iSTEAM, the students worked diligently to create items for sale. This hands-on approach fosters creativity, critical thinking, and develops their problem-solving skills. Once their projects were completed, we set up shop. The students thoroughly enjoyed selling and buying the items they made. This practical experience in a controlled environment allowed them to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios, enhancing their understanding of economic principles and the value of their efforts.

The mini market was not just about fun, it was an essential part of learning. Students gained firsthand experience in managing money, understanding the importance of pricing, and the concept of supply and demand. This initiative successfully integrated key curriculum goals as well as highlighting the importance of financial literacy and the diverse skills promoted by iSTEAM.
