As we head towards the wintery months, last week autumn decided to share an icy blast. Learners were treated to not one, but two hailstorms. After a morning of rain and thunderstorms, mother nature made herself known to the McIntyre Block. Everyone was intrigued and very excited by the downpour of hailstones that left behind a blanket of ice.
Outside temperatures plummeted and the adventure began. Shortly before lunch break, two hailstorms lashed through Howick, leaving behind frozen treasure. Students stood in awe gazing out towards the icy covering on the astro turf. Many students, having not seen hail before, were fascinated to see the effect of such a storm.
Afterwards M4 took a moment to write a poem outlining the storm:
Autumn Storm
Trees smashing and falling,
Fences crashing to the ground,
Buildings break and rattle all night,
Glass shattering and cracking
Hail covering gardens with a cold icy blanket,
Cars crashing, hurting people,
Houses and sheds ripping apart,
Leaking and shaking in the violent wind,
Lights flickering, lightning striking,
The storm rages on.
