Room T3 have been making bookends for their ISTEAM learning. This project has lasted several weeks.
Initially they discovered the books in class kept falling over, and after researching how to fix this issue, they decided to construct bookends.
Prototype designs were drawn on 3D graph paper for the first step in the design process. Feedback on each design was gathered from other classes and the favourite design was selected. The chosen design was then drawn to scale and suitable materials selected. Finally, the bookends could be constructed.
Learners had great fun making their bookends, getting to use a range of tools and materials such as saws, files, wood glue and sandpaper. Once finished, the bookends were ready to be tested and later used for their intended purpose.
